I graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 2007 and completed my residency in General Surgery at “Evangelismos” General Hospital. I subsequently specialized in Metabolic Bariatric Surgery at Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, one of the world’s largest bariatric centers by patient volume. During my fellowship, I trained across the full spectrum of weight-loss procedures and developed a particular interest in modern, individualized surgical approaches for the management of obesity.
I hold two postgraduate degrees – one from the University of Athens and another from Queen Mary University of London – and have been awarded two fellowships from the International Federation for Surgery and Other Therapies for Obesity (IFSO). I am an active member of several scientific societies, including the Hellenic Surgical Society (EXE), the Hellenic Surgical Society for Obesity (EXEP), the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), and IFSO. Since 2022, I have also been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
My research output includes numerous publications in PubMed-indexed journals and presentations in national and international scientific congresses. I have served as a peer reviewer for major medical publishers since 2019 and was recently appointed Academic Editor for the medical journal PLOS ONE. I also serve as a scientific collaborator of the 1st Department of Propaedeutic Surgery at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where I teach in the postgraduate program Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery and Telesurgery.
